FAQ

If you're interested in franchising with Harry Ramsden's, we're sure that you will have a lot of questions! We've listed some of the most common questions you may have, along with short answers to each! However, if you'd like to discuss any of the below (or any other questions that you have) in greater detail, please don't hestiate to get in touch.

Why should I go down the Franchise route?

A key advantage is that you are buying the use of a brand and operating system with a proven track record.  While this in itself is not a guarantee of success, it does mean that the format and operating system have been moulded to ensure the best possible chance of success.

How can I finance the Franchise?

All major clearing banks have specialist Franchise departments, as they view Franchising as a safer way to start up a new business.  In this respect the banks will normally provide good terms and a higher lending proportion of the required start-up capital than might otherwise be available for a new business start-up. We're also happy to provide support to engage the right Franchise partners.

How much money will I have to have available?

While this may vary, on average you will need at least 30-40% of the required investment level for your planned concept available as liquid funds.

What training is offered?

We provide a comprehensive training programme of up to 10 weeks for all Franchise Owners and their staff, to ensure that you are fully equipped to run a well-managed and successful site. Ongoing assistance is also available for you and your team.

What is the total investment required to open a Harry Ramsden’s store?

The full approximate cost of a ‘local’ and a restaurant is £245,000 and £705,000 respectively.  The price is based on the average cost of a new store build in 2013.

How do you select your Franchise Owners?

Our criteria is based on suitability as a Franchise Owner and operator and availability of funds.  You will be subject to an assessment criteria, consistent with normal business practice.

Can I run another business in addition to the Harry Ramsden’s Franchise?

Setting up any new business will require a great deal of commitment and time to ensure the maximum chance of success, which is why we would suggest you focus on your Harry’s Franchise to launch -  at least until a capable management team are in place.

Am I able to purchase more than one store?

Absolutely - we are keen to work with individuals who are looking for multiple sites in a particular territory.

How many staff members are employed in an average store?

An average Harry’s ‘local’ creates around 10 new jobs, both full time and part time positions.  The Restaurant model creates around 30 new jobs.

Are there any new store opportunities for me to franchise immediately?

There are numerous opportunities across the country - which we'd be delighted to share with you!
